(No, these are not my abs... But they will be!)
Ack! I'm terrified! Tonight is my first session with the personal trainer since January 2008! It's been almost 2 years. They're going to kill me when they find out how much weight I've gained since then!
Oh well, at least I'm doing something about it now, right? I'm excited, but scared. I can not fail. I have to keep trying. This weight is killing me & sucking all the fun out of life, not to mention my wardrobe! Grrrr.
I am an adrenaline junkie, and I need discipline. You can't go to private school for 10 years without walking away with authority and rigid discipline issues. Apparently, it's what I need to stay on track!
I need your help though... I know this is going to be a long road, and there will be times when I wanna cry, puke, scream, and quit. I need help figuring out a word or phrase or image that I can conjure in these moments of weakness. I need something in my arsenal so I can stop the whining defeat in its tracks.
Any suggestions? Wish me luck!

They won't kill you for gaining weight. They will be proud that you came back. That you haven't given up. That you are still fighting. :)
I can't wait to hear all about it!! Good luck!
I always like thinking "I can do anything for 5 minutes" or 10 whatever it may be. you don't have to do it forever, just for the next 5 minutes.
oh and you may have commented on my lovely legs right before I posted the attached giveaway...so if you want some salsa head on back!
visiting from washing away the gain...like robin said, you're to be commended for being motivated to start this program. just put your mind to it and its done! :D
I read something on someone's blog about counting backwards. Makes the time go by faster. Start at 100 and count backwards slowly. Before you know it you've knocked off a couple of minutes.
Personally, I have to rationalize the working out in order to keep doing it every day. What's the point in going through all that pain and sweat if I just eat a huge calorie meal afterwards, or not work out for a couple of days? Then I went through that pain for nothing. You've got to gain something from the pain, otherwise what's the point?
This is my personal little thing, which is probably too personal to work for someone else...
I love the Killers. Their song "All These Things That I've Done" has this driving mantra "I've got soul, but I'm not a soldier." For some reason, repeating that in my head spurs me on.
Check out this article from Runner's World about mantras...
