Surviving the Holidays

UPDATE! (12/30/08) I weighed in today, instead of yesterday... Last week's efforts produced a 3 pound weight loss! Nice.

It looks like the health streak continues! Last week produced some of the most amazing sweat sessions known to man.  Well, known to me anyway. I slaved over the arc trainer for hours last week, depleting my body of (much needed) hydration and unwanted calories. I haven't yet updated my HBBC points yet but will do that tomorrow at work (when I'm bored and have nothing better to do!)

I also skipped my weigh in this morning for reasons I care not to disclose, ahem, but will weigh in tomorrow morning and update my side bar which is in need of a little organizing. Me thinks I need to add a weekly weigh in sidebar. Hmmm... what say you? Nevermind, I've decided to add one.

I'm feeling the need for a new plan. Now that I have the eating under control and have found my way back to the gym, I think it's time for new goals, etc.

Hmmmm... back to the drawing board! Bring on the Excel spreadsheets....

Num3ers

Weekend workouts: 2
Weekend HBBC points: 6
Alcoholic beverages: ?
Days to suffer through @ work this week: 2
Pounds lost last week: sadly none

Not that I'm surprised. While my workouts were AWESOME, my calorie intake was less than impressive. I kinda let the holiday season/stress get to me and ate far too much! Not to mention that it was my sister, father and brother's birthday. There was much cake involved.

*groan*

Onwards!

Racking Up Points...

... and pain, but the good kind of pain!

Attended Power Pump last night for another 4 points. Kinda sucks that I can't accumulate as many points as those cah-razy runners, but this bod is doing the best it can.  I find that this little HBBC thing is more about support and community and less about competition.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go water myself. I'm a little behind schedule on the H2O today!

That's More Like It!

I think I may have depleted a third world country of their water supply yesterday. I took your advice and tried to flush the bloat out o' my body. I hogged the Arc Trainer machine for one hour last night and was drenched by the time I limped off to stretch. (And no, the gym wasn't busy. There were two other Arc machines available should someone else want to torture themselves!)

Then I went home, showered and crashed into blissful slumber dreaming of a smaller bum and flat abs. Woke up this morning and decided to give the scale a chance to redeem itself. And what should appear, or rather DISAPPEAR before my very eyes?? Those mysterious 2 pounds. And they took 1.7 of their friends with them. So in theory, I really only dropped 1.7 pounds, but WOOHOO; it's still 1.7 pounds!

Poundage lost - 9
HBBC points earned yesterday: 1 hour cardio, 15 minutes stretching/abs = 4.5

Come Again?

Okay, so *scratches head in confusion* I thought you were supposed to lose weight when you ate within your calorie range and exercised like a fiend, right? Right?! So riddle me this... why was I UP 2 pounds this morning? I'm not exceedingly worried, as I know without a doubt that I couldn't have gained any weight. In fact, I was expecting to see at least a 2 pound loss. I tracked EVERY morsel of food and drink that passed my lips, and well, you read about the exercise. So what gives??

Hrmmmph.

Somewhere Over the Weekend

Full steam ahead! Decided to do a fun activity in the name of exercise and spent 1 hour sweating my arse off while also trying to not fall on said arse. The sisters and I went ice skating last night, racking up 4 points for HBBC. (Also, I'd like to give a shout out to my lil' sis who apparently is now a reader of the blog! Hey, hey Pooks!) My calves are now killing me, which is a great thing. That means my muscles are trying to overtake the fat, resulting in less tree trunk like appearance!

To give my poor body a break, I went for a lovely 4 mile walk in the local park. Lovely = farking cold! So I'll gladly take those 4 HHBC points and bank them, once they thaw.

See y'all for weigh in tomorrow!

Typing With My Pinkies

I just got home from kickboxing.

Send help.

Or chocolate. No, scratch that. Send chocolate, Midol AND a masseur!

At today's end, I have racked up another 4 points for the HBBC (see side bar for details - have no more energy left for creative linkage.)

But Will I Be Able To Walk Tomorrow??

UPDATE 12/11 - You know how they say the second day after a car accident is always the most painful? Well, I think that applies to Power Pump class too! I'm still walking around like a granny with a poopie in her Depends! Ouch. I will be limping to kickboxing tonight.

Sooooo, tonight I laced up the trainers and headed to hell. Power Pump to be exact. Please believe me when I say I was nervous as hell. I haven't been to Power Pump in month. MONTHS. And when the instructor is former military, the workouts tend to be a little insane. I was scared.

And I had every right to be. Within 5 minutes, I thought I was going to die. After 25 minutes, I seriously became concerned that I might vomit. But by 45 minutes, I knew I could make it. And when the hour was up, I wasn't entirely sure I could walk out of the room, but I was damn proud of myself!

How does one forget how utterly amazing it feels to exercise to the point of almost vomiting? Man, I love it. But as the title says: Will I be able to walk tomorrow?

Stay Tuned.

*A reminder of the nightmare that is Power Pump.

I Like To Move It, MOVE IT!

In good faith I placed my butt into Thick Chick's hands today. You lucky doll, you! This morning I randomly selected her exercise comment and performed 45 minutes on the elliptical machine! Sweating ensued! It was glorious. And that counts for 3 points towards RUNTOFINISH's Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge, or HBBC for short!

Tomorrow's workout comes courtesy of Jeni, whose comment I randomly selected for tomorrow. I'm headed to Power Pump for the first time in months. MONTHS! I'm scared.

As for weighty matters.... I'm down another .5 pounds for a total of 7.4 pounds. Buh-bye!

A Special Saturday Post

I don't think I've ever blogged on a Saturday before??

Just popping in to say that tomorrow I will be randomly selecting your workouts and will initiate them on Monday. I'm pretty excited actually. In preparation for the sweatfest pain, I finally dusted off my gym membership, laced up my trainers and hauled my arse to the gym.

Gah, I'd forgotten how blissful it feels to sweat, strain, stretch and feel completely depleted. I missed that! And while I'm embarrassingly nowhere near as in shape as I was months ago, I didn't do too badly. The only thing killing me is my upper back. My back muscles are apparently non-existent these days.

'Tis the season... to get in shape!

Front Page News

Dear Sweet Baby Jesus. My mug is on the cover of the local newspaper. Above the fold. Dead center.

I've never had a 'get thee to the gym' moment quite like that before. Ack.

It's on.

My Butt Is In YOUR Hands!

Figuratively speaking, that is. I'm not *that* lonely! Although, you all are quite foxy, I prefer to be fondled by those with 'y' chromosomes!

So here's the deal: I need to start working out again. But after 27 years of exercising, the love has been lost. If there were couples counseling for physical fitness then exercise and myself would be attending.

Here's where you come in. I created this blog for support and accountability. To interact with other fat fighters and gym bunnies. So let's get as interactive as we can via the internet. I'm letting you plan my exercise routine for the next week.

Leave instructions in the comments for which exercises you want me to perform. I'll randomly select three and start on Monday, December 8. And of course, I'll blog about the "experience."

Try not to kill me, peeps! This should be interesting!

Well, That Was EASY!

Thanks to all you swank bitches and your wish for me to find a hot Scotsman, 'cuz I did indeed! Simon is a lovely man, which I had the pleasure of spending the evening with. He will be boarding a plane headed home to Scotland tomorrow, but one evening filled with his delightful brogue was all I needed! Enchanting! Back to my lonely oatmeal! :(

Actually, things are not at all lonely at the moment. I'm refraining from pulling a T0m Crui$e and jumping up and down on 0Prah's couch. I'm keeping it all a mystery at the moment because I don't want to jinx it with my evil 'talk too much' voodoo that I've been a victim of in the past... Patriot and Man, anyone?? So all I'll say is that I'm happy and I've got a case of the warm and fuzzies, big time!

Now onto the digits. This week is brought to you by the numbers TWO, ZERO and SEVEN! That's right, peeps -- I'm down another two pounds! For a grand total of 6.9 pounds! My fat ass knows better than to try and stop me once I've decided to do something. I've been watering myself so much I expect to start sprouting soon! Next week is my week to focus on integrating sweatfests back into my life. And yes, Miss POM, a 5k is on the horizon! I'm going for it!

Later, lovelies!
